Deliciously Simple French Toast Bake for Any Occasion

This French Toast Bake features a rich, buttery flavor and fluffy texture, making it a delightful centerpiece for brunch gatherings or cozy family breakfasts.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of day-old bread e.g., brioche or challah
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup optional, for serving

Instructions

  • Grease a baking dish (9x13 inches).
  • Cut the bread into cubes and place them in the baking dish.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, making sure every piece is well-coated.
  • Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the covered dish for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving, topped with maple syrup or fresh fruit.
